Janet is an economist with over 18 years of experience in international higher education research and policy analysis. She works in partnership with EduWorld, utilising her expertise particularly in the areas of international student mobility, forecasting and transnational education.

 

Janet started her career as a University Lecturer in Economics before joining the British Council in 2004 to lead the department’s work in higher education research and market intelligence. In 2013, Janet joined the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) as Head of Economic and Qualitative Research and Head of HEFCE Observatory. She co-authored a series of research reports on trends in higher education in England. Her work focused on international student demand for higher education in England and the impact of transnational education demand on the higher education system in England.

In June 2015, Janet founded Education Insight, a research consultancy specialising in international higher education. Her research is evidence-based and underpinned by a sound macroeconomic analysis. Her most recent work, commissioned by the British Council (BC), focused on policy assessment of the higher education regulatory frameworks for transnational education and the internationalisation of national higher education systems across 26 countries.

Over the past year, Janet has also worked with the BC in the Philippines and the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) on an initiative for transnational education engagement between the two countries.

 

Janet is a member of the Research Committee of the International Education Association of Australia, board member of the Journal of International Students (US) and a regular member of Universities UK International steering groups tasked with the oversight of research projects.
